AN INTERIM Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) has been granted against a 40-year-old East Linton resident.

East Lothian Council made the application at Edinburgh Sheriff Court against Scott Anderson, of the village's Browns Place.

Complaints about Mr Anderson’s behaviour in and around his flat date back to 2010.

The court heard that Mr Anderson allegedly regularly played loud music at all hours of the day and night, causing distress to his neighbours and their visitors.

His home was allegedly the source of repeated banging and thumping noises and he also graffitied around his door.

In spite of regular interventions by the council’s Safer Communities Team, they said that Mr Anderson continued in his anti-social behaviour.

Interim ASBOs are used to protect members of the public from an individual’s behaviour while the legal proceedings are progressing.

The interim order was granted at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and will remain in force until a further court hearing is held to determine whether a full ASBO is appropriate.

East Lothian Council’s Safer Communities team worked closely with Police Scotland to compile the dossier of evidence that was used in court.

A council spokeswoman said: “We take such complaints extremely seriously and will not hesitate to pursue legal action to ensure local residents are not subjected to behaviour that can cause alarm and distress."
