FOUR kind-hearted Dunbar Grammar School pupils have taken on cargo nets, inflatable slides and lots of mud to raise more than £750 for charity.

Emily MacGregor, Eva Smith, Sylvie Fennell and Aimee Watson took on the 5k Pretty Muddy Challenge in Edinburgh last month.

The fundraiser, which took place at Ingliston, near Edinburgh Airport, saw the four teenagers dressed in pink and taking on a number of different challenges in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The challenge, which is open to females only, saw several hundred women taking part at the event last month.

Fourteen-year-old Emily, 14, of Dunbar, saw the event being advertised on social media after watching a family friend take part in a similar event to raise money in memory of friends, family and for people fighting cancer.

She was joined by her fellow S3 classmates at Dunbar’s secondary school in taking on the course.

Emily said: “It was great fun with my best friends for a great cause, with lots of mud, and thank you to everyone that sponsored us.”

Each of Emily, Eva and Sylvie, from Cockburnspath, and Aimee, of East Linton, wanted to raise £100 each for the charity but smashed that figure to raise more than £750, with friends, family and friends of parents digging deep to help out.

Now, the quartet are hoping to take on another charity challenge, with the possibility of a bigger obstacle course.
