WALK With Scott Five has been launched to raise funds for a special pop-up therapy room that helps people with dementia.

Veteran Tranent fundraiser Scott Glynn’s now-famous walks have raised a staggering amount for local causes over the years and the event has become so big it is now organised by the Walk With Scott Foundation.

They are planning to hold the fifth walk on May 13, covering 26 miles across East Lothian countryside, before ending with a disco and food.

The money raised will be used to supply care homes in the county with RemPods – a pop-up reminiscence area that has been proven to help create a calm and relaxing area for people with dementia.

They range from 1950s living rooms to old-fashioned cinemas, railway carriages and shops, and have been found to help build bonds between staff and patients in care home and day centre settings as places where they can share old photographs and memories.

The foundation hopes it can raise enough funds to make sure care home and day centres across East Lothian have access to them.

May’s Walk will cost £10 entry, including disco and food afterwards.

Scott said: “We became a foundation to help local causes and projects and we have a few already in the pipeline. You can walk for your own cause, with 10 per cent of your total going into Walk With Scott funds.”
