EAST Lothian residents have been warned of the possibility of snow and ice tonight.

The Met Office has issued a yellow 'be aware' warning for snow and ice for the county, covering the period between 9pm tonight until 7am tomorrow morning.

The Met Office says that outbreaks of rain wil turn into sleet and possibly even snow during this time period.

It adds that this will lead to a risk of icy stretches on untreated surfaces, as well as potentially some temporary accumulations of snow in some areas.

Any sleet and snow that does fall is expected to turn to rain after midnight.

The Met Office adds that there is a chance of difficult driving conditions on untreated roads and slippery conditions on pavements and cycle paths.
