A FEAST of entertainment is on offer in Musselburgh and Haddington over the next few weeks.
While unable to present events at The Brunton in Musselburgh due to closure of parts of the building following a roof survey, Brunton Theatre Trust is taking its attractions to alternative venues.
Film-goers will fall head over heels for The Brunton’s supper and movie Valentine’s Day special on Wednesday.
Romance will be celebrated with supper at The Brunton bistro, which is still open for business, followed by a screening of Notting Hill at Loretto School Theatre. The Brunton offers complimentary transport after supper to the screening of the classic movie about a humble bookshop owner whose life is transformed after meeting the world’s most famous film star.
Transport will take guests back to The Brunton afterwards.
Once guests have booked, the bistro will be in touch to confirm their preferred dining time. The screening starts at 7.30pm.
Also at Loretto School Theatre is the coming-of-age musical 13, performed by a cast of young people backed by Brunton Performing Arts Network. Catch the show from next Thursday (February 15) to next Saturday (February 17) at 7.30pm.
The first of 2024’s Bite-sized Concerts at Lunchtime is The Virtuoso Violin, with Emma Baird playing violin and Anna Michels on piano, at Northesk Parish Church next Tuesday (February 20) at 1pm. The Brunton’s lunchtime recitals include established and emerging performers. A light lunch of soup and a sandwich is served in the church hall adjacent to the church at noon.
The Brunton’s midweek movie programme at Loretto School Theatre continues next Wednesday (February 21) at 7.30pm with Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, which tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this “deeply felt portrait of love, fantasy and fame”.
Theatre lovers can enjoy the best of the West End on the big screen when they join Andrew Scott (Fleabag) as he brings multiple characters to life in Simon Stephens’ (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time) radical new version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya at Loretto School Theatre on Thursday, February 22, at 7.30pm.
