A LUXURY hotel wants to sell off a large chunk of its car park to a developer for potential new housing.
The car park opposite North Berwick's Marine Hotel, on the town's Cromwell Road, can accommodate up to 80 vehicles.
Now, hotel bosses are inviting offers of over £450,000 for just over half of the 0.62-hectare car park for the "potential to develop high-quality townhouses or dwellings", subject to planning permission.
Agents for the hotel describe the sale as a "rarely available opportunity to purchase land in North Berwick" and describe the site as being "moments from world-renowned golf courses and High Street amenities".
The west side of the car park is being kept by the hotel for use by guests and will have about 30 car parking spaces.
Allied Surveyors Scotland, who are handling the sale on behalf of the hotel, say in the sales schedule that any proposed development of the car park will have to "preserve or enhance the character of the area, as defined in the North Berwick Conservation Area Character Appraisal."
