KITCHEN problems are continuing at a county primary school due to issues with mice.

Last month, the Courier highlighted reports of the animals at Campie Primary School in Musselburgh.

At that time, East Lothian Council confirmed there was an issue and said efforts had been made to involve council departments and specialist pest control contractors to tackle the problem.

Campie Community, a Facebook page linked to the school, posted a message earlier today highlighting the ongoing situation.

It reads: “Message from the school: 'Unfortunately, the kitchens have been closed again.

“For today only, children will be able to select from three sandwich options; tuna wrap, cheese panini, or ham sandwich.

“We are hopeful that the pre-order system will be updated to reflect the choices available tomorrow.'”

A spokesperson for East Lothian Council confirmed they were looking to address the problem.

They said: “Regrettably the kitchen at Campie Primary School has closed due to new evidence of mice in the school building.

“Extensive works have been carried out at the school in line with professional pest control recommendations over a period of months to eradicate mice and prevent further incidents.

“This work will continue so that all areas can be opened again.

“In the meantime, lunches will be prepared at the Burgh Primary School kitchen and transported to Campie Primary School.”
