A woman who punched a police officer to the head will be sentenced later this month.

Kara Watt, 35, assaulted PC Lucy Langford by striking her to the head and resisting arrest from other officers by tensing her arms and throwing her body around on November 28 last year.

Watt, of North High Street, Musselburgh, also pulled away in an attempt to evade arrest during the incident on the town’s MacBeth Moir Road.

Watt pleaded guilty to both offences when she appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday.

No narration of the circumstances was heard and Sheriff John Cook said he was deferring sentence, for the preparation of background reports, to later this month.
