A GREEN Futures Festival takes place at Musselburgh’s Queen Margaret University on Saturday.

The event promises a day of engaging talks, workshops, and indoor and outdoor activities.

East Lothian Climate Hub is organising the event and encouraged people to head along from 10am.

Sarah Bronsdon, CEO of Lil CIC, said: “The festival is about community, about having a blast while looking forwards to our future.

“Join us for a fun-filled day of discovery, play, connection, and plenty of good cake!”

The festival will feature a diverse line-up of events, including:

  • Talks on topics such as regenerative agriculture, global voices, wildlife-friendly gardening, heat networks and retrofit;
  • Workshops on sustainable living, renewable energy, eco-friendly practices, and more;
  • Outdoor activities for all ages, including woodland activity sessions and interactive demonstrations;
  • Live music performances showcasing local young talent and celebrating the spirit of community;
  • Food available onsite.

Tess Humble and Jo Gibb are the newly appointed climate hub community development officers.

Tess said: “The Green Futures Festival embodies the spirit of collaboration and empowerment that defines our communities.”

The festival will feature a community cake-off competition, inviting people to showcase their sustainable baking talents and compete for star baker.

Tim Hetherington, chair of East Lothian Climate Action Network, added: “The Green Futures Festival provides a platform for dialogue, inspiration and action, uniting us in our collective efforts to build a resilient and thriving community in East Lothian.”
