VOLUNTEERS are urged to come forward to ensure a summer celebration proves a roaring success.

Dunbar Civic Week has become a staple of the town’s social calendar since it was established in 1970 to mark the 600th anniversary of the granting by King David II, King of Scots, of the Royal Charter creating the Burgh of Dunbar.

This year’s event takes place between June 8 and 16. Sanchita Patjoshi heads up a team of volunteers who organise the event.

The fun day is on June 8, while other events include a silent disco, family get-together, thanksgiving ceremony and tree planting.

A royal court is also yet to be unveiled. Mrs Patjoshi encouraged people to help throughout the event.
