MEMBERS, past presidents and friends of Dunbar Rotary Club have marked the organisation turning 60.
The group was founded in 1964 and celebrated its diamond anniversary at Dunbar Golf Club.
After a Champagne reception, the cake was cut by Frank Wood, president in 1988/89, when Dunbar Rotary Club celebrated its 25th anniversary, and the current president Ian Dickson.
Among the guests on the night were Provost John McMillan, co-president of Dunbar Rotary’s ‘mother’ club Haddington, and his wife Mary, and Jo Pawley, president of Dunbar’s ‘daughter’ club Eyemouth & District, and her husband Mick.
Mr McMillan addressed the dinner, while Mrs Pawley proposed a toast to Dunbar Rotary.
Musician for the evening was Dunbar Grammar School pupil and cellist Hannah Swinney.
She had impressed judges at two heats of the Rotary Young Musician competition over the winter, and her contribution to the dinner was very much appreciated.
Dunbar Rotary’s next community event is a charity ceilidh on April 13, and its next international project is the provision of composting toilets in northern Malawi.
