IT’S anchors aweigh for this year’s Fisherrow Harbour Festival, which takes place this Saturday.

The organising committee said it was laying on an “exciting and expanded range” of community, land and water-based activities for people to enjoy at the event, which coincides with Star Wars Day.

The event, from 11am to 3pm around the harbour area, will feature a mix of musical attractions on the main stage, sponsored by Ravelston House Hotel, including Edinburgh-based singer and guitar player Joe Madden at 11am; Trippy Takka, 11.40am; Pocket Collective, 12.20pm; The Citrenes, 1.15pm; and The One Jam Band, 2.10pm.

Performances on the acoustic stage will get under way with St David’s Brass Band at 11am, before the Loretto Pipe Band at 11.30am, slosh at 12.30pm when everyone can join in, the Louise Collie Dance Company at 1pm, Ron Ray Magic at 1.30pm, rounding off with the Clark Community Choir at 2.15pm.

The ever-popular raft race will get under way at noon, when some “weird and wonderful themed rafts” are set to take to the waves.

Visitors can meander around the stalls manned by various sellers, craftspeople and charities. Food, including paella, will be on offer to keep those hunger pangs at bay.

There will also be the chance to see some Star Wars characters mingling with the crowds during the day.

A spokesperson said: “The Fisherrow Harbour Festival committee is grateful to everyone who supports and contributes to the festival and thanks sponsor the Ravelston House for their support.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the event on Star Wars Day – May the fourth be with you!”
