FAITH, feminism and justice are at the heart of a Scottish folk trio performing in Tranent tomorrow (Friday).
Siskin Green’s fiery protest songs are balanced by re-imagined hymns and their own new material.
The trio – Jane Bentley (percussion), Suzanne Butler (fiddle and guitar) and Margaret McLarty (guitar, banjo and piano) – originated in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Though most musicians were forced into inactivity, the three women were requested to make a socially distanced appearance for a one-off performance on BBC Scotland programme Reflections at the Quay.
Instant musical chemistry led to the founding of Siskin Green, and their debut album was launched in August last year at a packed concert as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The concert takes place at Tranent Parish Church at 7.30pm as part of their spring tour.
