BENCHES are popping up throughout Dunbar thanks to a partnership between two community groups.

Dunbar Community Council provided funding to the Dunbar Shed to create the perch benches.

Already, they have found homes in Winterfield Park, as well as at Hallhill and near the Bleachingfield Centre.

Esther Hughes, co-chair and secretary of Friends of Winterfield, was delighted with the new additions.

She said: “Bob Sinclair helped to choose the sites: two are in the new Winterfield Wildlife Garden and one is on the western edge of the park, affording a pleasant resting point for many walkers.

“Our wildlife garden is nearly complete and we’re waiting for warmer weather to encourage the grasses and native plants to spring to life. Many of our fruit trees are in blossom and the new hedge is beginning to leaf.

“The benches will provide a good perch to enjoy nature and views of the further park.”
