A CLASSICAL singer is hoping to use her platform to raise money for two good causes and be crowned Miss Great Britain Edinburgh.
Ciara Harvie, who has performed on television’s The Voice, as well as at Easter Road and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, is hoping to wow the judges at the competition this summer.

If successful, she will then go on to represent the Capital at Miss Great Britain.
Ciara, from Longniddry, who works for Mercedes-Benz of Edinburgh East at Fort Kinnaird, told the Courier what it would mean to her to be crowned Miss GB Edinburgh.
She said: “It would be a big thing to represent Edinburgh.
“I am very proud to be from there and it is such a beautiful city.
“To be able to represent it nationally would be amazing.”
The competition is split into various rounds on the day, including fashion, evening wear and an interview.

Ahead of the competition, which has already attracted nearly 20 entrants, the competitors are urged to raise awareness of, and funds for, a charity.
Miss GB Edinburgh is run as a fundraising event, with all profits being donated to local charities.
Former Preston Lodge High School pupil Ciara will be representing Cancer Research UK and Alex’s Wish, while the event will also benefit Woman’s Aid Edinburgh and Simpsons Special Care Babies Unit ICU.
She said: “Cancer Research UK is such a huge charity.
“Everyone has been affected in some way or other by cancer, whether it is directly or not.
“To help charities out in this kind of way, it gives me a way to use this platform.
“Alex’s Wish is for the disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
“It is a small charity and it is nice to do be able to help them as well.”
Twenty-six-year-old Ciara heard about the competition through a friend, who encouraged her to apply.
A finalist in Miss Scotland in 2022, Ciara said: “It is a huge confidence thing.
“It is a nice way to meet other people as well and different girls of similar ages.
“I have entered Miss GB Edinburgh, which is for people up to age 30, but also there is another category for aged 30 and above.
“It is a nice way for different people to meet and different events.
“It is something a little bit different.”
The final is held at Prestonfield House in the Capital on July 6 before the national final takes place later in the year.
