The East Lothian Gents had a disastrous start to their Premier League campaign last Saturday when they suffered a heavy 65-87 home loss to Ardrossan. The rinks of Scott Kennedy and Billy Mellors were those who suffered most with Scott going down by 21 shots and Billy by 20. An excellent 19 shot win for Alex Marshall and a peel for Graham Robertson’s rink at least reduced the damage but leaves the team requiring to bounce straight back at home to Aberdeen next week.

Individual rink scores were as follows: G Robertson 18 v D Crawford 18, B Mellors 5 v D O’Rourke 25, S Kennedy 13 v S Wilson 34, A Marshall 29 v M Williamson 10

The Gents and Ladies National two bowls pairs took place last Sunday with the gents pairing of Mark Johnston and Willie Wood falling at the last hurdle in their bid to emulate their previous success in this event.
