MUSSELBURGH ace Gary Anderson will begin his bid to win a third consecutive PDC World Darts Championship title this month. .

The county star begins against PDPA qualifier Mark Frost at London’s Alexandra Palace on December 15 – the tournament runs from then until January 2.

The 45-year-old world No.2 won his second world title after a thrilling victory over Adrian Lewis in January.

A year earlier, he beat legendary 16-time champion Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor to lift the coveted trophy.

This year, Anderson is bidding to emulate Taylor’s achievement of a decade ago, when The Power took the title three years in a row, in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Taylor will face either Yorkshireman John Bowles or Australia’s David Platt first round, while last year’s runner-up Lewis takes on Swedish veteran Magnus Caris.

The PDC World Darts Championship runs from December 15 to January 2 at Alexandra Palace, in London.
