MUSSELBURGH Athletic's hopes of a third Scottish Junior Cup final in seven years were ended by Kirkintilloch Rob Roy on Saturday.

A brace either side of half-time by man of the match Sean Fraser was enough for the home side to secure their place in the last eight.

Mathu King levelled for Burgh, finallists in 2011 and 2015, but they were unable to find a second equalliser after Fraser struck the winner on the hour.

Allan Todd, part of Calvin Shand's coaching staff, tweeted: "Gutted going out of the Scottish Junior Cup today with @MusselburghAth but congrats & good luck to @robroy1878.

"One unbelievable save beat us."

Burgh's defeat means Dunbar United are now the only East Lothian side remaining in the draw.

They face Glenafton Athletic at New Countess Park on Saturday.
