EAST Lothian Indoor Bowling Club’s gents’ team suffered a 78-63 defeat away at Ardrossan on Saturday afternoon in their Premier B section, writes Matt Osborne.

The Ardrossan encounter was to prove every inch the tough task it appeared on paper after they secured an opening-week victory away at Aberdeen to fire a warning shot to those in the Premier League section.

East Lothian started the game the better, leading 16-2 and 27-15 in the opening exchanges.

The home side grew into the game and by 16 ends had forced a single figure lead of their own.

The momentum appeared to have swung in the home side’s favour over the closing ends before registering a +15 win to top the section after week two.

East Lothian will look to regain traction on their league campaign this coming weekend as they welcome Aberdeen to Meadowmill.

The county gents are without a host of regular starters and will look to their strong pool of players for the fixture.

The selectors remain boosted with Alex Marshall still available for selection for what could be a crucial game in the section, with a visit to current league champions and Scottish Cup holders Midlothian next in a tough-looking section.

The game gets under way at 2pm, with support welcome.
