EAST Lothian Indoor Bowling Club members continue to be heavily represented in the indoor international sides and namely in the junior set-up, writes Matt Osborne.
Logan Kennedy and Lennon Rafferty are the latest to celebrate the Saltire call-up to the under-18 international series at Sully IBC (Wales) in January next year.
Kennedy has been named in the singles and pairs disciplines, while Rafferty takes his place in the triples and fours.
The series is scheduled from Friday, January 12, to Sunday, January 14.
Both youngsters will be accompanied by team manager Scott Kennedy for the trip.
Meanwhile, Billy Mellors and Alan Young both head to Abbeyview this weekend as they look to make progress in the Scottish Indoor Singles.
Young takes to the carpet first in a 9.30am start on Saturday against Fraserburgh, while 2014/15 national singles winner Mellors has the luxury of a later start and is due to commence his campaign at 7.30pm against East Fife.
Beth Riva and Emma Blyth begin their respective campaigns in the ladies’ junior singles.
Both players find themselves at Falkirk this coming Sunday.
Riva begins her quest for a national title at 10am against Turriff, while Blyth gets started at 1pm against Abbeyview.
Storm Babet claimed the majority of last weekend’s bowling fixtures.
Willie Wood saw his expected trip to Fraserburgh in the senior singles called off in advance on Friday afternoon, while East Lothian Indoor Bowling Club had to close its doors for the entire Saturday morning and afternoon due to a powercut early in the day.
The closure left East Lothian Ladies still waiting to make their second league outing as Tweedbank ladies had their trip from the Borders cancelled.
Andy Burt did find his way to Headwell amongst the storm for his opening fixture in the senior singles. A slow start from the East Lothian man saw him trail his Midlothian opponent 14-7 before a late second-half fightback had the match within three shots.
It would prove to be too little too late for Burt, as he missed out on progression 21-15.
