Tranent secured a vital Lowland League win as Musselburgh Athletic, Haddington Athletic and Preston Athletic were all held to draws. Dunbar suffered late heartbreak in the Premier Division while Ormiston Primrose’s home game fell victim to bad weather.

 

Tranent 2 University of Stirling 1

 

Tranent were the only county side to pick up a win as they beat University of Stirling 2-1 at home in the Lowland League.

After a goalless first half, Tranent took the lead on 48 minutes when Euan Bauld tapped home from close range.

Jack Docherty equalised for the visitors on 59 minutes.

But with 12 minutes to play, Tranent restored their lead when Lennon Walker did well to finish when played through on goal.

Tranent are fourth in the table and travel to Edinburgh University on Saturday.

 

Dunbar United 1 Bill of Beath Hawthorn 2

 

Dunbar United suffered late heartbreak in the East of Scotland Football League Premier Division as they lost 2-1 at home to Hill of Beath Hawthorn.

After a close first half, Dunbar went behind on 55 minutes with Jordan Tosh grabbing the goal.

But the hosts were soon level with 12 minutes to go, a superb freekick from Bob Berry found the back of the net off the crossbar.

But just as the game looked headed for a draw, the visitors grabbed the winner as Daniel Watt struck on 92 minutes to secure the win.

Dunbar go into Christmas on 30 points and in fourth place in the table.

A trip to county rivals Haddington Athletic awaits them when they return to action on December 30.

 

Musselburgh Athletic 2 Tynecastle 2

 

Musselburgh Athletic came from behind to secure a late 2-2 draw at home to Tynecastle in the Premier Division.

The county side fell behind just seven minutes in before Nicky Reid fired them level on 14 minutes with a good strike.

Tynecastle again had the lead on 58 minutes but it was the hosts who would have the final say.

Nathan Evans popped up on 92 minutes with a goal to ensure Musselburgh got a share of the spoils.

Musselburgh are fifth in the table and travel to Penicuik Athletic on December 30.

 

Broxburn Athletic 0 Haddington Athletic 0

 

Haddington Athletic were held to a 0-0 draw away from home to Broxburn Athletic.

Despite dominating much of the opening half, Haddington were unable to find the net.

A cagey second half continued until talisman Gabri Auriemma was sent off on 80 minutes for a second yellow.

Despite a few late chances, neither side could find a winning goal.

Haddington are seventh in the table ahead of their December 30 clash with Dunbar United.

 

Preston Athletic 1 Blackburn United 1

 

In the First Division, Preston Athletic were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Blackburn United.

Blackburn took an early lead before soon being reduced to 10 men after a last man foul.

Preston pushed for an equaliser in the second half, and got their reward on 60 minutes when Buster Briggs found the net.

The hosts continued to create chances but could not find a winner.

Preston are eighth in the table and travel to Leith Athletic tomorrow.

 

Ormiston Primrose P Kennoway Star P 

 

Ormiston Primrose’s Second Division game at home to Kennoway Star fell victim to the bad weather.

Ormiston are bottom of the table and travel to Peebles Rovers on December 30.
