Musselburgh Windsor Football Club are celebrating the most successful season in their history as they approach their 70th anniversary next year.

The under-14 girls won the Scottish Cup in a 6-1 victory against Hamilton Academical at Ochilview Park, the home of Stenhousemuir, completing the treble of league, League Cup and Scottish Cup.

Kevin Dilly, from the club, said: “The Scottish Cup win completes the treble for the girls, winning the South East Joelle Murray Division 1 to go with the League Cup we won just before the summer.

“This was an amazing season and completes a competitive 100 per cent record all season.”

The players move up to under-16s and into the new National Performance league next season.

The under-18 girls won the Scottish Youth Challenge Cup with victory against Drumchapel United at Ochilview.

Scott Robertson, club president, said that he believed Musselburgh Windsor was the first club in Scotland to win back-to-back Scottish Cups in Scottish Women’s Football (SWF) at youth level.

Another feather in the club’s cap as it looks towards its anniversary year is Sam Windram, 22, in her second year as head coach at Musselburgh Windsor Girls under-18s’ squad, being named Youth Coach of the Year at the SWF annual awards at Hampden Park last month.

Musselburgh Windsor also had two teams in the boys’ Scottish Cup finals in the same season.

The under-14 boys won the Scottish Cup against Gairdoch United at The Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie. The under-15s lost to Edinburgh City 4-1 in their Scottish Cup final. They beat them in the South East Region Cup 1-0 at Hallhill, Dunbar.

Robertson said: “Again, very few clubs have two teams in Scottish Cup finals for boys’ football in the same season.”

He added: “The club has enjoyed a remarkable season on several fronts. We continue to provide football for boys and girls aged four years old and upwards, catering for around 800 young players.

“On the pitch, these young players and their coaches have achieved a record number of trophies in one season. It is just fantastic to see and particularly special in our 70th anniversary year.

“In March will be holding a special club dinner with guest speaker George McNeill and hosted by Lawrie-Anne Brown from Sky Sports.”

The club’s successes are: Under-18 Girls’ Scottish Cup (Musselburgh Windsor v Drumchapel Utd); Under-18 Girls’ Jenna Fife League (Musselburgh Windsor); Under-16 Chairman’s Cup (Edinburgh United v Musselburgh Windsor Blues); Under-14 Inspiresport Scottish Cup (Gairdoch Utd v Musselburgh Windsor); Under-15 Division 3 League Cup (Cramond Wolves v Musselburgh Windsor Whites); Under-14 Willie Bauld Memorial Cup (Musselburgh Windsor v Spartans); Under-15 South East Region Cup (Musselburgh Windsor v Edinburgh City); Under-13 Persevere League Cup (Musselburgh Windsor Blues v Leithen Vale); Under-13 Division 2 League (Musselburgh Windsor Blues); Under-15 Division 2 League (Musselburgh Windsor Blues); Under-14 Girls’ South East Region League Cup (Musselburgh Windsor v Boroughmuir).
